HolyCityBrewing.com Relaunch!
by timmons / Sep 07, 2012At long last, our friends at Holy City Brewing have a robust, full-blown, killer web presence again!
Team CHSBeer was honored and privileged to provide the design and initial content for the new site. I think we can speak for Holy City, and of course ourselves, in saying we're proud of the results. You can now use the brewery's official site to get their backstory, details on every beer they've ever brewed, what events they have coming up, everywhere you can find their product, and all sorts of other malty tidbits.
The new site was developed with the Drupal Content Management System (CMS), similar to this website, in order to allow the brewery to manage all of their content on their own, without going through us for every post or edit. Active areas of the site, like beers, accounts, events and the blog are easy to create and include a rich text editor, image uploads and other features.
Of special importance (I mean, we're talking about a brewery here) was making the beer section especially helpful and easy to update. We already had some experience in building our own beer pages, so we had a good idea of what content to collect. What we've been thinking about for some time now, is how can they keep their tap list current? We opted for a slick little ajax link that appears next to each beer and, with one click, can determine if a beer is "on tap" or "up next". We then made different "views" to display that content, such as a "What's on tap" block in the sidebar, a icon being presented on those specified beers, and an alternate display that gets pulled into their Facebook page. One click to update everything.
Another cool feature: live video feeds - at the mere mention of it, Sean ordered two Dropcams which offer live 720p video (as well as audio and a slew of other features) which we've embedded on this page as well as their Facebook page. Hit the fullscreen icon and watch the guys hard at work, or tasting room visitors working on a sample.
